Remix of Pulsar for Jan Liefhebber

A while ago I got asked to do a remix of a new track of Jan Liefhebber. Ofcourse I wanted to do that. Jan is known for his acid style. For me it was the first time to handle the freaky TB 303 sounds, because by some reason I avoided the bassline synthesizer in my productions. I think that is because I am more of a Moog guy. Matter of taste. It was a great honor to do a remix for Jan and a big pleasure to work with this style. I put the well known RAM IO ingredients in it, blended it all together and delivered a 7 minute hard industrial version of the track. Dave DB, another artist from the hardcore scene and doing more and more on techno was also invited to do a remix. That was cool. Dave and I get more and more involved in projects together. Thats because we have bothe the same hardcore background beside our love for techno I gues.

The release is on the 24th of september and is brought to you by Prescribed Trax from Los Angeles!

Live studio recordings for songwriting

This is a very fine workflow I like to take for writing songs.
I record a live performance on a combination of mostly hardware and some software synths controlled by separated outboard controllers. Then clean up the recording as can be seen now in the picture below. From there one taking it to a next stage in the writing proces by writing some extra here and there.
After that I’m going on with the audio, pure sound design. And in the final stage mixing it all from the bottom up. With this approach I can manage to keep emotional expression of human performance in music, combined with modern day digital tools which give an extra creative opportunity to add flavor and expression to a track.
